mac celebrates its 50th anniversary

Fifty years. This was the motto for mac. brand spaces, the specialist for live communication, to celebrated its 50th anniversary. High-ranking guests, including the Rhineland-Palatinate Minister of Economic Affairs Daniela Schmitt, were invited to the ceremony on the campus in Langenlonsheim. “It is important that companies create value and generate benefits,” says mac CEO Stefan Trieb. “And mac has been doing this very successfully for 50 years.”

mac designs and produces brand spaces for large, globally active corporations and SMEs. Trieb: “We create communication platforms to bring the brands and products of well-known companies together with their customers.” mac has been designing trade fairs, showrooms and events in physical and digital spaces since 1973. Back then, company founders Elmar and Kuno Pieroth established an outsourced trade fair department at Pieroth Weinkellerei Burg Layen with the first two managing directors Werner Hasskerl and Wolf M. Sprys. In the early years, mac was mainly active at consumer exhibitions, but later more and more trade fairs were added. “In 1975, we built 300 exhibition stands, then 200 more every year,” recalls Kuno Pieroth. He describes his signature on the founding certificate as his greatest experience. His guiding principle: “Always be close to our customers and their concerns.” This is still the case today. Trieb adds: “At the core of our business, we bring people together and create spaces that are emotional, memorable and create value for our customers as an effective sales platform.”

Reaching this milestone anniversary documents half a century of company history for mac, says Minister of Economic Affairs Daniela Schmitt. The fact that a company has been successful on the market for so long deserves the highest recognition. “With international locations such as Shanghai, you embody the Rhineland-Palatinate SME sector in an ideal way. You show that quality made in RLP is in demand worldwide. At the same time, you are aware of your successful base in Rhineland-Palatinate and have remained true to your headquarters,” says Schmitt. mac has succeeded in positioning itself for the future in the challenging times of the coronavirus pandemic: “Thanks to your innovative approach, you have designed and implemented virtual trade fairs, showrooms, image videos, green screen live streams, 360° factory tours and new digital sales tools for your customers.”

Dr. Bernd Köhler, Chairman of the Advisory Board, emphasizes: “mac is a 50-year success story that everyone involved can be very proud of. The company is excellently positioned and resilient to crises. And it has a DNA of commitment and motivation, innovative spirit, flexibility and customer focus. If this DNA continues to be cultivated, then this success story will undoubtedly continue.”

In this most severe crisis – while the industry was looking into the abyss – mac has turned its gaze to the future. Trieb emphasizes: “We kept our team on board during this time. This allowed us to hit the ground running in spring 2022. And our confidence has paid off. Our business is doing better today than before the crisis. “With the restart of the event industry in the second quarter of 2022, it became clear that one topic is becoming increasingly relevant: Sustainability, taking into account ecological, social and economic aspects, has moved to the center of social discussion. Sustainability is deeply rooted in the mac’s DNA. The Langenlonsheim-based company has employed a sustainability officer since 2005.mac continuously invests in reducing the carbon footprint of the company and that of individual orders

mac has made extensive investments during the crisis. These include new, energy-saving machines, lighting, a PV system and a vehicle fleet, over one third of which has already been converted to electromobility and supported by a corresponding charging infrastructure. “We are currently working towards ISO 20121 certification for sustainable event management in order to drive the topic forward,” said Trieb.

Thanks to the new mac. sustainable brand spaces business unit, the company is able to create a carbon footprint for projects and the entire operation. “The team also plays an important role in reporting, advising customers and optimizing our processes and structures,” said Trieb.

Even after 50 years, mac has every reason to be optimistic about the future. “And we have the strength, the will and, above all, the ideas to shape it,” concluded Trieb.
