mac consolidates its leading position in sustainable live communication

mac. brand spaces, the specialist for live communication, has successfully achieved recertification according to the internationally recognized DIN ISO 20121:2024 standard for sustainable event management. The successful audit confirms the continuity and further development of the sustainability management system. This was announced by Stefan Trieb, CEO of mac.

Last year, mac. brand spaces was the first service provider in the industry to have its entire value chain—from design and production to installation—certified according to the original standard. With the current upgrade to the revised version 20121:2024, the company is taking the next logical step. The new standard places an even stronger focus on the external impact of business activities on the environment and society.

“The successful recertification is strong confirmation that our commitment to sustainable business practices is not a one-off action, but an ongoing process,” says Stefan Trieb. “The introduction of the revised standard was an excellent opportunity to re-examine our processes and continuously improve them. We focused particularly on the consulting process and want to ensure that it delivers the best possible customer benefits. This is an essential step for our future viability, as the market is increasingly demanding reliability for genuine sustainable action and its advantages against the backdrop of many purely advertising-oriented environmental campaigns.”

A decisive step was the establishment of a fixed quality management system. A quality manager was newly appointed to ensure compliance with processes and targets, with access to the entire value chain of the company and the ability to review the success of all measures based on defined parameters. This means that mac is also “ready to go” for future regulatory requirements, such as the planned EU legislation on sustainability reporting (CSRD).

Sandra Henze, Head of Sustainable Brand Spaces, emphasizes the synergy effects: “As part of ISO 20121:2024, we have conducted a double materiality analysis. It looks at our impact both internally and externally. This enables us to prepare optimally for the reporting requirements that will be coming our way in the near future. We are using this time to position ourselves for the future and support our customers as a reliable partner in their own value chain.”

The recertification consolidates mac. brand spaces’ position as a pioneer in the industry. It proves that sustainable action is not just a selling point, but also brings real customer benefits in consulting and is an integral part of the corporate culture. With its commitment to the highest standards in environmental, social, and governance (ESG) issues, mac is helping to make live communication more responsible and resource-efficient.
